Welcome to the Broadly Epi list of LGBTQIA+ Healthcare Resources. Here, we will organize resources based on type (Provider, Medication, Transportation, Peer Support, etc) so it’s easy to find what you are looking for. Keep in mind that organizations often offer several services, so they may be found in several categories for ease of understanding. If you need other resources, please also check out our other Resource Lists that cover things like being able to reduce prescription costs, or help with appealing insurance decisions. Keep in mind the order resources presented in are by no means any ranking or endorsement. Likewise, this will be a living document and updated as is appropriate.

  • LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory is a free, searchable online database designed to connect LGBTQ+ individuals in the U.S. and Canada with affirming and culturally competent healthcare providers. Created by the Tegan and Sara Foundation and GLMA, the directory offers access to a broad range of healthcare professionals, including primary care doctors, specialists, mental health professionals, and more. Users can filter providers based on specialty, location, care approach, and patient focus, ensuring access to nonjudgmental, knowledgeable care. The platform supports healthcare equity by promoting LGBTQ+ inclusive practices across diverse medical fields.

 

  • The CenterLink LGBTQ Community Center Member Directory is a comprehensive online resource that connects individuals with LGBTQ+ community centers worldwide. Users can search for centers by location, name, or specific services offered, facilitating access to support, advocacy, and health resources tailored to the LGBTQ+ community. The directory includes over 400 member centers across the United States and internationally, serving as a vital tool for those seeking community engagement and support.

 

  • OutCare Health is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ health equity by providing comprehensive resources and support. Their offerings include the OutList directory of affirming healthcare providers, care navigation services, mentorship programs, peer support, prescription savings, and community health resources. OutCare also hosts educational webinars and maintains a blog to keep the LGBTQ+ community informed about health-related topics. These initiatives aim to empower LGBTQ+ individuals to access affirming healthcare and support services tailored to their unique needs.

 

  • The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Provider Directory is an online resource that connects individuals with healthcare professionals experienced in transgender health. Users can search for providers by location, specialty, and certification status, ensuring access to competent and affirming care. The directory includes a wide range of specialties, such as endocrinology, surgery, mental health, and primary care, facilitating comprehensive support for transgender and gender-diverse individuals.

 

  • One Medical, an Amazon company, offers accessible healthcare services, including telehealth visits and STI screenings. They provide 24/7 virtual care and in-person appointments at various locations. Memberships are available to Amazon Prime members at discounted rates. All that said, since it is an Amazon company, some individuals may have privacy concerns for valid reasons.

 

  • Planned Parenthood operates a nationwide network of health centers offering comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, including STI testing and treatment, birth control, hormone therapy, and gender-affirming care. Their services are inclusive and affirming for LGBTQIA+ individuals, ensuring access to competent and respectful care. To find a nearby health center, use their Health Center Locator. Planned Parenthood is committed to providing affordable healthcare, with many services covered by insurance or available on a sliding scale based on income.

 

  • The Trevor Project is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending suicide among LGBTQ+ young people. They offer 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention services through phone, text, and chat platforms, providing immediate support to those in need. Beyond crisis intervention, The Trevor Project engages in advocacy efforts to promote policies that protect LGBTQ+ youth, conducts research to better understand the challenges they face, and offers educational resources to foster acceptance and understanding. Their comprehensive approach aims to create a safer, more inclusive world for LGBTQ+ young individuals.

List of LGBTQIA+ Healthcare Resources: Prescriptions

  • PleasePrEPMe.org is an online platform dedicated to expanding access to HIV prevention resources, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Initially launched in 2015 as a searchable, location-responsive provider directory for California, it has since expanded to offer resources in English and Spanish for consumers and providers nationwide. The platform features an online PrEP navigation training program with multiple modules and downloadable resources, providing comprehensive insights and best practices for PrEP consumers, navigators, and prescribers. As of January 15, 2021, PleasePrEPMe.org is managed by HealthHIV, a national nonprofit organization that advances effective prevention, care, support, and health equity for people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C.

 

  • Circle Medical offers comprehensive, evidence-based gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) for adults aged 18 and over. Their services include both masculinizing and feminizing hormone treatments, tailored to align an individual’s physical characteristics with their gender identity. Circle Medical’s board-certified providers deliver compassionate and personalized care, ensuring patients receive support throughout their transition journey. Appointments are conducted via telehealth, providing convenient access to care from the comfort of home. Circle Medical accepts most PPO insurance plans, making their services accessible and affordable.

 

  • FOLX Health is a digital healthcare provider dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community, offering comprehensive gender-affirming care via telehealth and shipped prescriptions. Their services include hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with estrogen and testosterone, mental health support, sexual and reproductive health care, and fertility consultations. FOLX provides virtual primary care through a team of LGBTQIA+ expert clinicians, ensuring personalized and affirming treatment. Members also gain access to peer support and a wealth of LGBTQIA+ resources, fostering a supportive community environment. FOLX has been endorsed by Trans Lifeline.

  • Transitional Justice is a grassroots organization dedicated to providing refuge and support for transgender individuals and their families fleeing persecution and harmful anti-transgender legislation. They offer temporary and transitional housing in safer communities, aiming to create a welcoming environment where transgender people can thrive. The organization collaborates with volunteers to deliver essential resources, including aid and housing, to those in need. By fostering a supportive network, Transitional Justice strives to build a brighter future for transgender political refugees, ensuring they can live without fear.

 

  • Elevated Access is a nonprofit organization that provides free private flights to individuals seeking abortion or gender-affirming care across the United States. Their network of volunteer pilots transports clients to healthcare facilities, ensuring access to essential services that may be restricted or unavailable in their home states. Elevated Access collaborates with partner organizations to coordinate referrals and logistics, aiming to reduce travel barriers and support bodily autonomy for all individuals. Elevated Access works with other organizations such as the Queer Trans Project to help coordinate transportation with discretion and confidentiality.

 

  • Project Open Arms is an initiative by TRACTION (Trans Community Action) aimed at supporting transgender and nonbinary individuals, particularly those relocating from states with restrictive legislation. The project offers a comprehensive, searchable directory of resources, including housing, medical care, legal assistance, travel support, grants, and social groups.   • The Queer Trans Project (QTP) is a Black-led, trans-led nonprofit organization based in Jacksonville, Florida, dedicated to empowering queer and trans individuals nationwide by providing essential gender-affirming resources. Their primary initiative, the Build-A-Queer Kits, offers free, customizable kits containing items such as binders, packers, bras, and makeup, shipped discreetly across the U.S. Additionally, QTP facilitates access to gender-affirming healthcare through their Flight Assistance program, providing complimentary flights via a network of volunteer pilots for those seeking care. They also operate the QTP Loveline, a hotline featuring prerecorded messages of affirmation and encouragement from LGBTQ+ community members and allies.Committed to inclusivity and representation, QTP’s leadership comprises BIPOC LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring their programs authentically serve the diverse communities they represent.

 

  • Point of Pride offers links to free or low cost trans inclusive and affirming clothing.

 

  • PFLAG is the United States’ largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. Founded in 1973 by Jeanne Manford, a mother who publicly supported her gay son, PFLAG has grown into a national network of nearly 400 chapters with over 350,000 members and supporters.PFLAG provides support, education, and advocacy as well as ways to get involved with local and national advocacy efforts.
